For this project, we were asked to design and fabricate a device that keeps time in a meaningful way for the user. I decided to focus on addressing the issue of textile waste, specifically that produced by single use outfits. By holding users accountable for how frequently they use their clothing items, they are encouraged to make better use of what they already own, be more intentional with their future purchases, and share what they will not use with someone in need.

Kondo is an easy to use interactive hanger that keeps track of long it’s been since you last wore each clothing item. This product is designed for individuals who care about sustainbility and living a minimalistic lifestyle. Keeping track of what items in your closet are not being used not only frees up space in you wardrobe, but donating that item provides the opportunity for someone new to wear it.
